At The Yoga Sanctuary we offer classes that range from gentle to vigorous vinyasa flow. We have students practicing yoga at 4 weeks to 75 years of age. All our yoga teachers are highly trained, certified and registered with the Yoga Alliance. You will not find this level of training and expertise anywhere else in Westchester County.
Each of us comes to practice yoga for our own unique reasons. In a yoga class, we learn the basic structure and form of the postures (asana). We also learn breathing techniques (pranayama) that will prepare us for movement, meditation and relaxation. The challenge that follows is how to apply these tools to our own unique needs.
A private session with a qualified instructor can be of tremendous help. In a personalized private session you will learn how to adapt and modify a yoga practice so that it serves you. In addition, your instructor can help you construct a personal practice you can do at home. Some students request an occasional single session, others require several sessions to address injuries or chronic conditions.

Yoga Therapy is an ancient healing modality for modern challenges. It utilizes the tools of yoga: postures, breathing techniques and meditation to affect change on the physical, physiological and psychoemotional levels of one's being.
Most of us are familiar with the asanas, breathing techniques and meditation that we practice in class, but did you know that yoga has therapeutic applications? Western science is now discovering the health benefits of yoga through extensive scientific research and study. Used in conjunction with traditional medicine or on its own merit, yoga has been proven to help alleviate and improve symptoms from a wide variety of health concerns and disease. From back pain to insomnia, there are yoga techniques and tools that can help improve your well-being and quality of life. Yoga therapy is best practiced with a certified yoga therapist during private sessions. Ellen Patrick, E-RYT 500 has completed extensive training and certification in the Viniyoga methodology which subscribes to adapting yoga to the needs of each individual student. Viniyoga's therapeutic applications have been refined to apply to a wide-variety of health issues. A recent study funded by the National Institute of Health approved Viniyoga to help patients with back pain. To arrange for a private session, call the studio at 914-381-YOGA (9642).
